RAM to Ride & Cook
Sunday October 13 2019
Devonport 60 km Cycle and Meal
Who is this event for? Everyone! RAM to Ride & Cook is a social event, we want it to be something that everyone can enjoy and take part in, rather than a race or time trial bike event. This event is definitely for beginner cyclists, while some of the more experienced riders may use it as an opportunity for a training ride or a good excuse to raise money while doing something you love. There will be both a slow and a fast group, so the more serious riders can still push themselves, while the rest of us can cruise along and enjoy the ride! There will be a marked vehicle at the front and the end of each group - please stay within the confines of these vehicles ensures we can keep everyone safe.
Whether you’re a beginning cyclist, member of a cycling club, thinking it could be a fun event to do with your mates, you want a team building activity for your employees, or you’re looking to take part in your first cycling, everyone is welcome!
Kids over 12 are encouraged to join the event, but will require parental consent if they are between the ages of 12 and 18.
The Ride: Starting and Finishing Points and Times
The event will kick off at 10AM, Sunday 13th October, from the Eastern Portion of the carpark at the Devonport Bluff., with the slow group heading off first and then the faster group to begin trailing behind at 11:30AM.
Everyone will finish back at the Devonport Bluff, with an aim to have all participants back by 2.30PM - 3:00PM.
Along the ride you will find two rest stops; Thirlestone Golf Club (30km) & near the Axemans Hall of Fame (50km). For those in a relay team cyclists change at these points as well as at Wesley Vale. This would make each leg approximately 15 km
The ride will take you mostly through country roads, a few short stints in suburban areas as well as the Exeter Highway for a small distance. You can see a map of the course here.
The day will conclude with a meal in the Aberdeen Room of the Paranaple Centre in Devonport starting at 6PM and concluding by around 8.30PM. We hope to meet up briefly with the cooking group at 8PM.
In the event of very bad weather we may reduce the length of the cycle but recommend all prepare for the possibility of some rain
